Are you interested in meeting other local businesses in Bordon? As part of the Whitehill and Bordon regeneration project, there’s a new focus on supporting local businesses and encouraging more business people and entrepreneurs to come to the area.
To this end, later this month, Bordon’s first dedicated business community space will open providing free coworking space, meeting room hire and fantastic business support through the Bordon Hub.
SIGNAL is coming to Martinique House on Camp Road, Bordon launching on 27th February 2018! But first there’s a very exciting event for local businesses in Bordon with our Makers Masterclass and a sneak preview of the recently refurbished SIGNAL space.
What Is A Makers Masterclass?
One of my goals for SIGNAL is to build a business community for all local businesses including the many makers that run businesses in this area. From craft businesses to food producers, there are lots of people working from home and small units around the Bordon area. From my conversations with business owners I know that it can be quite isolating running a business – even if you have employees working for you – and so SIGNAL aims to provide a space that makers and other business owners can use, for networking, business support and coworking.
Having acquired a number of wooden office chairs to furnish SIGNAL, I thought it would be a great idea to get makers, creative business owners and non-creative local entrepreneurs together to customise our chairs for this unique space. All you have to do is register, turn up on either Friday 9th February or Saturday 10th February, grab a chair, choose some paints and get creative! On hand will be expert upcyclers, Furniture Helpline, who run workshops in furniture repair and refurbishment. This community organisation is based next door to SIGNAL and is kindly donating their time and expertise in ensuring our Makers Masterclass is a success.
All materials are provided, including a plaque that will be engraved with your name or business name and added to the back of your chair. The only catch is that you don’t keep the chair. But you can use it when you visit SIGNAL!
We’ll also be providing tea, coffee and cake, plus a tour of SIGNAL and an opportunity to find out more about our plans for the space.
While I’m sure there will be lots of really creative people producing chair masterpieces, this is not an event just for makers. We want all entrepreneurial people in Bordon to benefit from SIGNAL, and take part in our upcycling project if you want to.
If you can’t make this event, don’t worry we have a busy schedule of events planned at SIGNAL from 27th February onwards. Sign up using the form on our home page for email alerts, of check out our events page for listings.
